WOW.........it is hard to believe that I have been retired for 9 months. It has been a blast and has gone by like the speed of light. With 2 1/2 months left to reach the quest goal of 300, it is time to get busy. This past Saturday was a beautiful Winter day so we decided to travel to Elkins, WV to visit one of the new Breweries that is driving the craft beer revolution in West Virginia.
- Big Timber Brewing Co.- located on the outskirts of downtown Elkins ( home of the Forest Festival), the Taproom fits in with the theme of the festival and its name. Matt, Brewer & President, was holding down the shop while the rest of the crew took advantage of the weather to take in some skiing. Matt's friendliness and hospitality made this a very enjoyable visit. His father has a sawmill and provided a beautiful large wooden bar, along with timber themed bar stools. Matt had six brews available on tap which offered a nice variety of styles. My favorites were his seasonal Frost Notch Winter Ale, the Porter and the Bourbon Barrel Porter. This was a great stop, I highly recommend that if you are driving through Elkins stop by have a few good brews. Matt, I wish you much success and keep up the great work. The beer revolution is moving in WV.
