- FATHEADS BREWERY- #300........ I really did not know which brewery would hit my goal of 300. I could not have chosen a better place to celebrate #300. They rolled out the red carpet and made this a very enjoyable celebration of achieving what some doubters said I could never do. Janet the Tap room manager could not have been more friendly and hospitable to help us celebrate. Yes I did drink a sampler flight to meet the rules of the Quest. The Head Hunter IPA was excellent along with the Hop JUJU Imperial IPA. I also enjoyed the Shakedown stout. The experience was great and you will have a good time and good beer if you visit.

The clock is ready to strike 12 and I have five more breweries to visit by Midnight March 31st. With everyone into March Madness, The midwest region of the NCAA Tournament is taking place in Cleveland. So as they compete for a spot on the final four, I'm going to cleveland to complete the Quest's Final Five. In addition to my beer wife who has tolerated me during this quest we were joined by friends Bruce and Marilyn Kidd.
Finally a break in the weather, the snow has stopped and it is above freezing. So I'm heading out solo , leaving my beer wife in Northern Virginia to help with the twin Grandsons. I headed to North East Pennsylvania to visit one of my favorite breweries and then it was on to the Finger Lake region of New York State. I know......I already traveled to the Finger Lake region early in the quest. Believe it or not since my visit more breweries have opened. The craft Beer revolution is starting to rival the winery trails in the area. What is really neat is breweries and farmers are starting to grow hops in New York State again. New York once was a very large growing of hops until a blight and the Prohibition Era ended the the growing of hops in the State. I can't wait to taste some the exciting brews that will be produced with local hops. Plus how many more new breweries will we see in NYS. The Beer Trail is getting bigger.
The end is near, the time is now.............31 days remain to visit 35 breweries to reach the goal of 300 and bring the quest to a close. Time to put the petal to the metal and get the quest back on track. So as we enter March like a lamb we will need to finish like a Lion. March Madness is here and I'm not talking round ball, my March Madness is a beer mug. Time to hit the road and we will be hitting the road.
THe winter weather has been making it difficult to visit breweries to finish up the quest. Yes I could easily jump on a plane and head to San Diego, Portland, OR or Florida........heck that is too easy. So no more whining, its crunch time. I spent the month of February visiting the breweries close to the home bases. When a snow free day appeared it was easy to jump in the car and visit a few of the local breweries that seem to popping up everywhere. So as always her are a few of my latest most favorite visits.
When the weather cleared, I ventured back into Western Pa and visited the Pittsburgh Brewery. Its great to see that the City know for years for its Iron City Beer, has welcomed the Craft Beer Revolution. Penn Brewery and Church Brewery have been around for awhile and probably were the early leaders of the beer revolution. Today you can find many more craft Breweries with more on the way. Here are a few of my favorite ones that I visited:
